Gothic Fixture...To DIE For...Muhahaha!

Several weeks ago, we installed our first antique light fixture in the upstairs hallway.  Originally gas, this rare Gothic piece with satyr faces is composed of bronze, copper, and brass materials that dates to the last quarter of the 19th century.  What is a satyr, you ask?  Most people mistake these depictions on the light as Devil faces, when in actuality, the satyr is from Greek and Roman mythology that predates Christianity.  In Greek myths, the satyrs are a troop of male companions of Pan and Dionysus.

We bought this unique piece from Carlson Galleries, and I highly recommend them.  Take a look here:   http://www.carlsongalleries.com/
